It’s time for me to annoy everyone a little with self-indulging exposition. The real-life author of The Miracle at Palaven, not Arena Nyscirius, the in-universe author of Of Steel and Talons. (I will say this, though: Based on what was shown in the Extended Cut, my headcanon says that a Synthesis ending accelerates technological development, but doesn't suddenly throw everyone into the future with miracle technology, as the Reapers are not inclined to share more than the galaxy is ready for at a given moment.) ^_^ So until I ever figure that out (and if I choose to try to switch fandoms in my writing, I might choose to never figure that out), there's no official word on whether this fic is based on the Control or Synthesis ending.

Of course, if I ever choose to pursue this idea, I'd also have to consider whether I am at all capable of writing a story in a transhuman setting, as I'm actually rather uninformed in regards to that field. I know Synthesis isn't very popular, but I think it'd be quite fun to write about a galaxy that woke up one day and discovered they've suddenly become transhuman (or whatever term is applicable for sapient life in general, not just humans), how the world would look like then, and what conflicts would arise out of all this. Part of this is because I would like The Miracle at Palaven to at least be on the same continuity as most of my Mass Effect fics, including a few ideas I have on a post-Reaper War story. Admittedly, while it's obvious that I didn't pick the Destroy ending, I've actually been writing The Miracle at Palaven while being deliberately ambiguous about whether the ending here is actually Control or Synthesis.
